"I'm okay," Liya said, but she didn't look up.

"Are you?" Helly asked, lightly brushing the chalk from nir crudely-shaped hands. "Yoshi tells me he's tried to visit you, but you don't answer your door. Are you upset with him?"

"No," Liya answered. "I just ain't felt like it."

"That's fair, but there anything I can do?" Helly pressed. Liya set her jaw. "Perhaps you'd find talking to someone helpful? A therapist? Finding a human specialist will be an ordeal, but...it's been several weeks since that...slaver incident, perhaps now is a good time to consider--"

"I read that report the Cynn gave me," Liya said loudly, interrupting nem. Ne hesitated.

"Ah, yes, that," ne said, an odd look crossing nir face. "That will have been...strange."

"It was like readin' about strangers, yeah," Liya answered, holding her notebook to her chest. The report had been typewritten, it seemed like, on yellowish paper. She could see her name and her brothers', picked out in the text: Emry Abhinav Press, Alexei Hawk Press, Liliya Kiski. "They kept callin' us 'Emry' and 'Liliya' and 'Alexei' in the report. I mean, Alexei? We never, ever called Hawk that."

She paused a moment, and then shrugged sort of helplessly.

"But I ain't felt like much since readin' it, anyway," she said.
