"...Interesting," Numair murmured, mostly to himself.

"So--" Hawk shifted around until he was leaning against his elbows on the tarp-covered thing, "Somethin' I been wonderin' is, Aetheri's full of magic, right? Like, most all spirits can use it, I hear. Why're you so innerested in radio then? When you could do whatever with magic?"

Numair actually seemed to perk up at the question. "Ah, well, in some ways, electronics are more efficient and reliable than magic, at least the way we use it now. I quite like the idea of uniting the two," he added, tapping his index fingers together.

"Oh, 's that what you're trying to do?"

"Well, I am trying, yes," Numair agreed. He pulled his jacket around from where it was lying on the tarp behind him and fished into some inner pocket, producing a small checkered notebook and a pen. Hawk watched his face, which had grown plainly more excited as he spoke about this, and let him continue without interruption. "But I'm a bit out of my depth, I'm afraid. Typical terrrestrial radio requires a lot of government-provided infrastructure, you see. But I want this to be much more...independent. Trying to create our own version of ground-based radio towers has been tricky, however."
