Liya looked up to see Milou framed in the doorway of the forge, silhouetted against the daylight outside. They raised one hand in greeting, the other holding a long object.
"Hallo Liya!" they said cheerfully, and held up the object, which turned out to be a scroll. "We have an order in! From the Cynn himself, no less!"
Interested, Liya came over to see, as Milou unfurled the scroll. "Whoa, really? What for??"
"Hmm...rods, fittings, joints, pins," Milou mused, and turned to one side so Liya could see what was on the paper. There were several drawings of various objects, most of them curiously flute-like, with holes spaced down their lengths and ball-socket like joints on some ends. They were all annotated in very small Aetherian handwriting, specifying the measurements of each piece. "He must be doing some project."
"For what?" Liya asked, curious.
"I do not know. He used to do many little, ah, inventions. But I suppose he is too busy to do those so often these days."
"Inventions?"
"Yes, eh, like the rit constructs, you know?" Milou explained. "He created the first of them while he was at university, I think. And now of course they are everywhere."
Liya blinked, surprised. "What?? Really?!"
"Yes. I hear he is quite a well-trained spellworker." Milou passed the plans to Liya, who looked them over again. They continued, thoughtfully, "Is a bit of a shame he became Cynn so young--perhaps he would have made many other interesting things in time. But let us not keep him waiting, eh?" they added, turning to Liya. "This will be a good chance for you to try some finer metalwork."
Liya made a sound of agreement, absorbed in the little diagrams on the scroll.
