They fell into a thoughtful silence. A low mist was rolling in, practically glowing pink, illuminated by the blazing light at the top of the barge. The rain continued to pour steadily.
"Don't disappear on me when we get to Enodia," Teige said suddenly, pulling Hawk out of his thoughts. "It ent as though I'll be getting into the Order straight away. So I can help you find yer sister, yeah? She can't be hard to spot. Looks just like you, only smaller and girlish?"
He was grinning a bit now, and that pulled a wry smile out of Hawk. "We don't actually look much alike," Hawk answered. "We got differnt dads, see. She's got light skin an' dark hair, an' she's human. I guess we got the same nose, though," he amended, scratching the tip of his own nose.
"Huh," Teige said, and mused on that for a moment. "That's quite a beak for a little girl, you know."
Unceremoniously, Hawk pulled the wing over Teige's head away, folding it heavily behind him. Teige started at the sudden cold deluge of rain; within seconds his clothes were soaked through and his mane was hanging, dripping, over his headlamp eyes.
"All right," he admitted, as Hawk snorted, "fair play."
