Yoshi had brightened up at the doctor's question. "Yes!"

"Great!" Dr. Kildeer said. "I'll ask the medical assistant to bring one when she comes in. Do you have any more questions for me?"

Shinobu had fallen silent, watching this exchange. Yoshi looked almost excited.

"N-N-I don't think so!"

"All right--then I'll see you in a couple of weeks. Nice to meet you, Yoshi."

"Y-You too!"

"And nice to meet you as well, professor," Dr. Kildeer added to Shinobu, politely. She just made an absent-minded noise in answer and gave a little bow, which he returned. Then he left the exam room, closing the door behind him.

For a long moment there was silence. Yoshi's smile had gone somewhat, and she now looked slightly anxious. Shinobu gave her a sideways look, and then said casually, "So. Surgery, eh?"

Yoshi flinched. "Mhm."

She looked anywhere but at Shinobu, who eyed her for another long moment, before turning her attention to studying her own nails.

"I suppose we should find you a shapeshifting tutor, then," she said. Yoshi finally looked at her, wide-eyed. "Yes?"

"Y-Yes," Yoshi replied, sort of smiling, and then looking down at her knees again. Shinobu crossed her arms and looked away as well. "Yes."
