Everything was getting blurrier and blurrier, and darkness was creeping in at the edges of his vision. The dragon's face swam close to him, and behind that he could see the shapes of the winged man and the dark-furred creature fighting.

"You're gonna pass out, huh?" the dragon said, sneering. "Heh. What's gonna happen when you do, d'ya think? What's gonna happen to you?" He laughed, but the sound seemed to smear together.

The dragon spread his claws as the pale green barrier melted away into little shreds of light. "Thaaaat's right," he said, "you just lay--"

A tap on his spine cut him off. He swiveled around, taken aback, to see Hawk standing there, briskly turning his head in his hands to pop his neck.

Before the dragon could react, Hawk lunged forward, smashing his forehead directly between the dragon's antlers with a loud crack. The force even caught the tip of the dragon's tongue in his teeth, crushing it.

The dark-furred creature was sitting on his knees, nursing his head, when the dragon collapsed in front of him, stunned. Hawk stood glaring down at them--his forehead had been scraped raw from impacting the dragon's head and was bleeding, but he didn't seem to notice.

"Y'know what?" he hissed. "Y'all're the first slavers I seen in months. And I got a lot 'a anger to work out. Ain't you unlucky."

The dark-furred creature grimaced, and hoisted the dragon up by one of his antlers. "This bitch ain't worth it," he muttered. "C'mon."

The dragon agreed, faintly, seeming to have difficulty even lifting his own head. "Yeah..."
