Time passed, but the moon was still high overhead when Teige finished the phonecall.

"Tell all the girls I said hello, yeah?" he asked. "And make sure Sean and Annie know I'm alive? Thanks. Love you too. Bye."

As he hung up, he became aware of the sound of the radio, a hiss of static suffusing a voice. As he headed back towards the bright orange glow of the campfire, the voice became clearer. Everyone who had been previously gathered around the fire was now crowded around the stereo that the werewolf had brought, listening intently.

"Repeating," the announcer said, "Enodia has just confirmed, all ports are now closed indefinitely. There is now no entry into the city."

Teige froze.

Inside the RV, Hawk's radio repeated the same words. He and Parker both stared at it, dumbfounded.

"We're told this is just temporary," the radio went on, "until the strain on Enodia's resources eases. But there's no word on how long that will take."

"Oh no," Parker whispered, and Hawk looked at her. "Well, fuck. Now what."

"For now, please," the radio intoned, "All of you on the road tonight, look out for yourselves, and keep each other safe."
