"Oh yeah?" Parker asked, amused. Teige flicked the end of his tail for a moment, seeming on the edge of saying something else.
"Also, I don't think now was the best time for him to realize he's bisexual," he blurted out finally. Parker grinned at him.
"Oh yeah?"
The day as it came on was clear and bright; the highway smudged all together in a blur. Hawk passed the time curled up on the small couch, head resting on his arms, half dozing as he watched the cars around them pass or be overtaken.
He was startled awake, though, realizing that he was looking at Kim and Aram in their station wagon approaching the trailer. Neither of them had so much as glanced his way, but he turned way from the window anyway, running a hand restlessly through his hair.
Teige (who was now wearing a not-quite-fitting blue buttoned shirt over his bloody undershirt), Abi, and Parker were playing some kind of card game that involved slapping the top of a pile of cards, apparently with a lot of unnecessary force. Hawk watched this for a moment, and then asked generally, "How many monsters are goin' to Enodia, do y'think?"
