"Hundreds?" Abi suggested, collecting the pile of cards from the center. "'S hard to say."
"Y'all take Slap way too seriously," Parker muttered.
"Can y'blame anyone?" Abi went on, "They're hunting us monsters at our jobs or at school, now. And then selling us. They tried to get me and Parker when we turned up for our chem final. Right, Parker?"
"Yep."
Hawk stared at her in surprise. "That many?" he said finally. "Hundreds?"
"You didn't think we were the only ones?" Teige asked, frowning slightly.
"Anyone who's able will head to Enodia, if they're smart." Parker laid another card down. "I just hope we get there before Enodia closes port to refugees, like they been talking about doing."
Hawk and Teige both started then, Hawk sitting forward, Teige swiveling his horned head around to face her in alarm. "How likely is that??" he asked.
"Depends if Enodia decides they don't have room for any more of us," Abi said with a slight shrug. Parker leaned her head on her arm.
"We just kinda have to hope we make it."
