"I was starting to think it really was only for humans, until you dragged Teige in here," Parker said, as Hawk merely looked at her with some surprise. She was now rifling through a small zippered bag that was sitting on the counter next to the radio--from it, she pulled a small orange pill bottle.

"And anyway," she said, "I wanna know how he gets his testosterone. These--" she shook the bottle, and the small number of tablets at the bottom rattled, "--are what I gotta rely on for hormones. I can't refill 'em when they run out--my med records have me marked as non-human. But Teige, he don't look like he's relyin' on needles and vials."

"Oh," Hawk said after a moment, shrugging slightly, "Teige don't talk to me about that stuff. Sorry. I guess I didn't realize he's transgender. I mean, I know what that is, just not what that looked like."

At this last part, Parker looked suddenly alarmed. "W-wait," she said, "you didn't know??"

"No?" Hawk replied, raising an eyebrow at her. "It ain't my business. 'Spose it makes sense in retrospect," he added thoughtfully.

"You--I thought you knew!" Parker stammered, and then, "Well shit, I didn't mean to out him. Don't say nothing to him, okay? Don't act any different."

"Okay, relax," Hawk said gently, "This don't change nothin'. I just know more'n I did."
