In a dark, full tavern, Vlad and Luu sat chatting over a table lit by a series of glass orbs that rested on the tablecloth. They were both relaxed and grinning, Luu sitting the wrong way round on their chair and Vlad leaning back with a cigarette between his fingers.

Shinobu stretched out comfortably in a room that was strewn in quilts, pillows, books, and paper. She reclined on her back with her legs crossed in a very human way, even though she was now just a very large fox with six tails draped over piles of books. She was larger than the cabinet that stood up against the wall which contained burning incense and vases full of greenery; the cup and photo that she held each in a paw were almost toylike by comparison. Gold foxfire drifted around her as she talked critically to the photo.

"Uhm, excuse me," someone said close to Cynn Numair's ear. He jolted awake immediately, startling the pale snake-headed person standing beside his booth. They shrunk back some as he looked round at them wordlessly. "Sorry."

The cafe was empty now except for the Cynn, the snake-headed creature, and the alligator barista. The chairs were up on the tables, and the barista had swapped their apron for a portable radio and a mop, and was cleaning the linoleum floor busily. It was entirely dark outside, except for smudges of light from neon signs and sodium lamps coming in through the windows. The snake-headed person gestured.

"We're closing up now," they explained.

EDIT: Sorry for the huge delay in posting! That'll teach me to move servers like...any time near an update. Hope it was worth the wait!

And that does it for chapter 8! White Noise will be taking a break, and we will have guest artists each Sunday through April. Chapter 9 will then start with a double update on Sunday, May 5!

Thank you for reading! If you'd like to support the comic, tell someone you think might like it, and/or consider becoming a patron! Patrons get to see pages early, and I post extra content there for them as I'm able. I make White Noise on top of a full-time day job, but maybe one day I'll be able to supplement my income enough to drop to part time and spend more time on the comic (and my health, maybe.)

But in any case, again, thank you for reading! I'm glad you're along for this ride. See you next week with some guest art!
